Biography : "Sarah Van Middlesward was daughter of Jan Teunis Van Middlesward and wife, Catherine Teunis Bogart, and a granddaughter of Sarah Rapalje Tunison the first white girl born in the Dutch Colony of Mile Run, N.J., daughter of Joris Jansen de Rapalje who emigrated to America, 1623, to Fort Orange, evidently lived in the vicinity of Raritan, N.J., as most of their children were bp. there.  Sarah Van 
Middlesward was bp. in the Dutch Church, Brooklyn, N.Y.  Name was 1st. given as Brockaer, then Brokaw, and at bp of Abraham, given as Berka, and then was the only time that the mother's name was recorded, as Saertje Middlesward."²
