August 13 2001 -  We had the first official Holeczy Family reunion this weekend at my aunt and Uncle’s house in OH. Lots of people and lots of old pictures and stories. I will be returning to Oh to scan the

                           pictures in Oct

August 10 2001 -  The entire family has always taken pride in our Hungarian roots from bilingual dinner prayers to Hungarian family recipes that we all gather together to help make. I have grown up with a

sense of new traditions from the old world. I remember sitting and talking to my great grandmother and listening to her accent, watching her cook Mocha Tortas, Kiflies (kiflees), Struputchka, Chicken Paprikash or Krumpli Langos. The following is data is taken from the work and memories of other relatives distant and close. My father’s side is an interesting challenge because both sets of great grand-parents emigrated from Hungary in the early 1900’s.  Not only are all the genealogical resources abroad but they are also in Hungarian or Slovak. I have been very fortunate to have been introduced to distant family members who are either from Europe or have emigrated themselves and speak English.
